Technical characteristics of a bearing support:
- Housing (usually consists of 2 halves of cast iron),
- Bearings (according to the application, they can be radial ball bearings or spherical roller bearings),
- Seal rings (of all shapes and made of different rubbers).

The supports have at their inside, mount components which by their nature are subject to wear (bearings / seal rings) and therefore beyond the normal maintenance should be checked and monitored to keep especially the values of vibration and temperature in order to know the real deterioration state.
