They also present in almost all industrial applications, are the power part of the application because they have the task of reducing (in the case of gear) the angular velocity input received by decreasing the speed but gaining a high output torque This comes from the formula: P α ω x Mt.
Instead multipliers have their entry to the slow part of the application with the lower rpm but high torque and make available to dispatch a high speed, they are often used in plants producing electricity. This feature gearboxes (mechanical transmission of power) are always used where necessary to win a big moment resistance

General Specifications of reducers:

1. Housing (It's structure that has the task to support all the components inside, resisting the forces axial / radial heat they generate and exchange with the external environment).
2. Gears (The main part that allows equal power, as it were to turn the speed to a value higher or lower torque output to be sold).
3. Bearings (key components that can support all the gears with minimal loss of yield for rolling).
4. Seal Rings (They have a responsibility to keep the lubricant inside the body thus avoiding transmission of the escape).
5. Lubricant (Necessary in order to prevent the occurrence of metal to metal contact which would destroy in a few cycles to work both gears bearings and sealing components).
   
6. Drain plug (have a duty to allow heat and pressure formed inside the gearbox / multipliers go through them and prevent any outside agency to come into contact with the lubricant that quickly lose its function).

	Controls needed: The gearbox / motor / multiplier is almost a car if taken alone, which by its nature is simple but nevertheless requires to be carried out at least during the installation of the plant control: alignment, vibration analysis, lubricant analysis, monitoring temperatures and control of lubricant used.
